This is a temple of Dharma Sastha and it is a family temple of the Pandalam royal family. Its a favorite temple for the bakhtas of Lord Ayyappa. It is said that Lord Ayyappa’s childhood was here. Its is a very pleasing and area full of positivity. The ‘Thiruvabharanam’ is still kept here and the procession starts from this temple to Sabarimala on the Makara festival. Ayyappa is also known as Dharmasasta, Manikandan, Bhutanathan, Pandala Raja, and Pamba Vaasan. Ayyappa was born with energy of Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu when Lord Vishnu was taken over Mohini form. The main purpose of Lord Ayyappa’s birth is to destroy or take down Mahishi who was an asura demon. This temple is also known as Pandalam Valiakoikkal Temple.
