Iringole Kaavu

Iringole Kavu is a Hindu forest temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, situated in Kunnathunad Taluk of Ernakulam district, 2.5 km from Perumbavoor. This is one of the 108 Durga Temples in Kerala believed to have been consecrated by Lord Parasurama, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. This temple is located near the village pattal 35 kilometers away from Cochin.  There is a school near iringole kavu called Government Vocational Higher Secondary School also called “Iringole School” by the people there. Iringole Kavu is under the control of the Travancore Deavasom Board. Before the temple is called ‘IRRINNOLE’. Later this area was named ‘IRINGOLE’. It is believed that the gods and goddesses and the powers in the forms of trees and plants thats the reason why people won’t cut trees.It also a snake less forest. And later it is developed into a beautiful thick forest.
