In this blog, I am writing about a beautiful dam named Malankara.
This dam was built across the Thodupuzha River, the Malankara dam supports the irrigation of the region and has been constructed to use the water coming from the Moolamattom powerhouse. This reservoir is a very famous tourist spot. The dam remains open to tourists throughout the year and is a perfect place for fishing and boating.
There is a park in15-acre land situated near the reservoir which is under construction. There is an artificial lake that has been created by the Malankara Dam across the waters from the Moolamattom Power House. Since the dam remains unexplored by many, it has managed to retain its natural beauty. So, if you are planning a getaway to somewhere quiet and secluded, add this place to travel destinations.
It is situated near Thodupuzha which is easily accessible via KSRTC Bus Station that is 20 km away. The dam lies on the eastern side of Ernakulam, you easily can reach there by hiring a car, bus, or drive their vehicle to reach there. The nearest bus stand from Malankara Dam is Muttom.
